Sonia De Leon, Board Member

Sonia De Leon is a lifelong resident of Paramount and mother of two sons who attended PUSD and a daughter who is currently attending Alondra Middle School.  After graduating from PUSD, Sonia De Leon worked as a teacher’s assistant and an education specialist while attending California State University Dominguez Hills where she earned a teaching credential and a Master’s Degree in Special Education.  She currently works as an educator for students with special needs.

 

Sonia De Leon is an administrator for the environmental advocacy group ‘Concerned Paramount Residents Fight Pollution’ and has spoken publicly on numerous occasions in defense of her community.  She is an active member of her teaching association, a member of the PTA, and a strong supporter of public education.  Sonia is ready to face the challenges of helping to improve PUSD as its moves forward into the 21st century.  She seeks to improve communication between the community and the District and is eager to increase public participation in the education process.  She hopes to inspire current students to attend university, give back to their community, and become future leaders.
