SELPA Collaboration Brings PEERS® Training to Paramount to Strengthen Student Support

This week, Paramount Unified joined Bellflower and Lynwood Unified for a three-day PEERS® training at our very own Progress Park. The training was hosted by our SELPA and showed the strong partnership among our districts as we work together to support students and families.

The PEERS® program helps teens build important social skills that lead to positive relationships, confidence, and success in school and life. The training was led by Dr. Blake Warner, who guided participants through simple, practical strategies backed by research.

Paramount Unified was represented by school psychologists, speech and language pathologists, counselors, social workers, educationally related mental health providers, and special education administrators. Their participation reflects our district’s commitment to creating safe and inclusive learning spaces where every student feels valued and supported.

Participants who complete all three days will become PEERS® Certified Providers and will be listed in the national directory. This certification strengthens the services available to students and families across our district and supports the mission and vision of PUSD—to empower every learner, promote emotional well-being, and build strong pathways for success.
