Paramount Unified School District Opens Welcome Center to Serve Families

Paramount Unified School District proudly celebrated the grand opening of its new Welcome Center, located at the District Office on the corner of Orizaba and Somerset, Building E, open from 7:30-4:30 p.m., a space designed to offer comprehensive support for families and students across the District. Located just off the main thoroughfare on the quieter stretch of Orizaba Avenue, the Welcome Center provides a warm, inviting environment where families can find the assistance they need to thrive.

Location: District Office (Corner of Orizaba and Somerset, Building E)
Hours: 7:30-4:30 PM

The Center serves as a one-stop hub for a wide range of services—from technical support for student-assigned Chromebooks and laptops, to educational guidance for enrollment and registration, to health and welfare resources for foster and homeless youth. Inside, families have access to computers, experienced staff, and tools to help them navigate everything from school enrollment to student wellness.

The design and construction of the Welcome Center were made possible through the expertise and dedication of Paramount Unified’s Facilities, Maintenance, and Operations team. Instead of relying on outside contractors, the District leveraged the professional skills of its own employees—electricians installed the electrical systems, and carpenters built the cabinetry and casework. The project reflects the District’s ongoing investment in its workforce and a commitment to using internal resources where possible.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Board Members including President Alicia Anderson, Vice President Sonia DeLeon, Diane Martinez, and Eddie Cruz. Also present were Superintendent Dr. Joshua L. Lightle, members of the Executive Cabinet, district directors, and staff, all gathered to celebrate the launch of a space that embodies Paramount’s vision of welcoming, responsive, and student-centered service. Dr. Lightle shared brief remarks on the Center’s purpose and how it supports the District’s broader mission of equity and access for all families.

With its doors now open, the Paramount Unified Welcome Center stands ready to serve—connecting students and families with the resources, support, and guidance they need for a strong start and continued success.
