Paramount Adult Transition Program Celebrates Graduates’ Growth, Independence, and Impact

The Paramount Adult Transition Program held its graduation ceremony on June 5, 2025, at the Paramount Adult School campus, honoring nine remarkable students who have each demonstrated tremendous growth, independence, and community impact.

This year’s graduates are part of a program built on highly individualized and interest-based instruction designed to help young adults with disabilities develop essential life and job skills. With class sizes of just four to five students, the Adult Transition Program provides tailored support in a warm and supportive environment where each student can thrive.

Throughout the year, students engage in practical learning that mirrors real-life settings—including a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and living space where they practice cooking, cleaning, and managing household responsibilities. Just as essential are their experiences outside the classroom, where students gain confidence using public transportation and participate in work-based instruction. Through the WorkAbility program, each graduate completed at least 70 hours of hands-on job experience—an achievement that not only builds skills but also strengthens ties with the community.

Students in the program leave an unforgettable impression on everyone they meet. The graduation ceremony reflected the joy, positivity, and determination these students bring into the world. Their success stories are a testament to the dedication of teachers and staff, including Maria Alfaro, Alex Alonso, David Butler, and Aracelly Preciado-Zavala, who personally introduced each graduate with heartfelt pride.

The celebration included a warm welcome from Dr. Yvonne Rodriguez, recognition of WorkAbility achievements by Ms. Sonia Campos and Dr. Rodriguez, and closing remarks by Dean of Students Joseph Jackson and Superintendent Dr. Joshua Lightle. Special guests in attendance included Board President Alicia Anderson, Board Member Diane Martinez, Dr. Linsey Gotanda, and Patricia Tu.

As they move forward, the 2025 graduates of the Paramount Adult Transition Program carry with them the skills, confidence, and independence to continue shaping lives—including their own—in meaningful ways.
