Dear Paramount School Community:
There is a new TikTok trend called the #ChromebookChallenge, where students are filming themselves purposefully shorting out their Chromebooks by tampering with the device’s charging port or battery. This is an extremely dangerous thing for students to do, and can cause the Chromebook to overheat, catch on fire or in some cases explode. The well-being of our students is of the utmost importance to us, and this #ChromebookChallenge poses a real safety concern.
Please speak with your student about the importance of NOT engaging in this dangerous Challenge, and encourage them to report any individuals who appear to be inappropriately tampering with their Chromebook devices.
Our students are responsible for maintaining and properly caring for school property, such as their District-issued Chromebooks. Willful damage to a PUSD Chromebook would not be covered under the District’s Accidental Damage Protection. This may result in a student/family being responsible for the cost to replace the Chromebook device, if it is found to be purposefully damaged.
Thank you for promoting responsible choices, and for your ongoing partnership in keeping our school community safe.
