Paramount Unified School District recently celebrated the growth, dedication, and future promise of its newest educators during the annual Teacher Induction Colloquium, held at Jefferson Elementary. Themed “The Power of Reflection,” the event was led by Rita Cruz, Coordinator of New Teacher Induction as well as the Early Childhood Education program, and attended by Board President Alicia Anderson, Superintendent Dr. Josh Lightle, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Will Nelson, and Deputy Superintendent Linsey Gotanda.
Set in a warm, café-style environment inside a packed auditorium, the colloquium encouraged dialogue and reflection among educators. Seated at small round tables, induction participants shared stories and insights in response to thought-provoking prompts:
- What impact did the induction program have on your professional growth?
- Describe a meaningful interaction with a student that reinforced your commitment to education.
- How has the program shaped your vision for your future in education?
In a touching culmination of the afternoon, certificates were presented to both first-year and final-year induction teachers, honoring their progress and commitment. The event also recognized the incredible dedication of teacher mentors who guide and uplift new educators throughout their journey.
Paramount Unified remains committed to nurturing a strong community of educators. Through its induction program, professionals new to the classroom are not only supported—they are seen, heard, and valued as part of a team committed to lifelong learning and shared excellence.
