Paramount Students Win Big at Regional MESA Engineering Competition

Paramount Unified School District is thrilled to recognize the outstanding achievements of its students at the 2025 MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) LA / Central Coast Regional Competition, held Saturday, April 19 at Cal State Los Angeles. Every participating student from Paramount schools proudly returned home with a medal or ribbon—an accomplishment that reflects their hard work, innovation, and excellence in STEM.

The regional event brought together students from across the LA and Central Coast to compete in complex challenges that required design-thinking, coding expertise, and real-world engineering application.

Paramount students stood out in several categories:

  • A Hollydale School student earned 3rd place in advanced coding, showcasing individual mastery in computer programming.

  • Hollydale School also received a 1st place ribbon for design in the MESA Machine competition, recognizing students’ creativity and conceptual engineering.

  • Paramount High School earned 1st place medal overall and 1st place ribbon for Innovative Design in the MESA Machine challenge- winning top honors for both their machine’s design and for a precision performance.

  • Odyssey STEM Academy secured a 3rd place finish in the National Engineering Design Competition (NEDC), the event’s most rigorous and research-intensive category.

These achievements were made possible through a strong culture of innovation, student commitment, and the support of dedicated advisors and families. The District is proud to celebrate these innovative young minds as they explore, create, and shape solutions to real-world problems through STEM.
