Paramount, CA — April 10, 2025 — At its April 9 meeting, the Paramount Unified School District (PUSD) Governing Board approved the appointment of four new administrators who will serve in key leadership roles across the District. These appointments include Ms. Ebony Jordan as Principal of Educational Options, Dr. Cherilyn Lew as Director of Special Education, Ms. Lisa Kirk as Director of Pupil Services, and Mr. Shawn McBride as Director of Information Technology and Systems.
Ms. Ebony Jordan will take on the role of Principal of Educational Options, overseeing Buena Vista High School, Paramount Adult School, and the Paramount Adult Transition Program. Ms. Jordan has been Principal of Paramount High School – West Campus since 2023. She previously served as a high school English teacher, Dean and Assistant Principal. Her student-centered mindset and innovative planning skills will serve our students well. Passionate about alternative education and deeply committed to supporting students with disabilities, Ms. Jordan is excited to bring her experience and heart to this new role.
Dr. Cherilyn Lew, who has served as Interim Director of Special Education since November, has officially been appointed to the role. Dr. Lew brings a wealth of expertise as a former school psychologist, occupational therapist, Special Education administrator and site and district-level administrator. She initially joined PUSD as Director of Secondary Education in 2022. Her collaborative and compassionate leadership style has already made a positive impact on the Special Education Department.
Ms. Lisa Kirk, J.D., current Principal of Zamboni Middle School, has been named Director of Pupil Services. A proud PUSD alumna, Ms. Kirk has also served as a teacher, instructional coach, and Assistant Principal. Her calm demeanor, legal background, and attention to detail make her an excellent fit for this position. She is widely recognized for her leadership, fairness, collaborative spirit, and commitment to student success.
Mr. Shawn McBride will join PUSD as the new Director of Information Technology and Systems. With over a decade of experience in IT, Mr. McBride has held roles including Client Technology Analyst, System Administrator, and most recently, Director of IT at Hacienda La Puente Unified School District. Prior to that, he served as Director of IT for Western University of Health Sciences. Mr. McBride is known for his communication skills, integrity, and work ethic. He is expected to begin his new role in early June.
The other newly appointed administrators will begin their positions on July 1, 2025. Transition planning is already underway to ensure a smooth transition for all educational partners.
