Dear Paramount Unified School District Families,
We are writing to address recent national news regarding an executive order calling for the dismantling of the U.S. Department of Education. We understand that this announcement may raise questions or concerns about how this could affect your child’s education and our school district.
Please be assured that while this executive order is significant, it does not result in any immediate changes to our schools, classrooms, or the services we provide to students and families. The process of dismantling a federal agency is complex and would take time, including legislative action and careful transitions of responsibilities to other Federal departments, state and local agencies.
Our top priority remains the same: providing a safe, supportive, and high-quality educational experience for every student. We will continue to follow state education guidelines and uphold our district’s standards of excellence, regardless of changes at the federal level.
We are monitoring developments closely and will keep our community informed as we learn more. If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your school principal or the district office.
Thank you for your continued partnership and trust.
Sincerely,
PUSD Board of Education
Joshua Lightle, Ed. D, Superintendent of Schools
