With the extremely hot weather coming our way, we want to let you know about the steps we're taking to keep our students safe and comfortable.
Here’s what we’re doing at school:
• We've got air-conditioned spaces all around the school.
• We're adding more water breaks and hydration stations.
• We’re adjusting outdoor activities and recess times to beat the heat.
Your child's well-being is our top priority!
Here are some helpful tips from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to stay cool during these hot days:
• Drink lots of water and avoid alcohol and caffeine. Even if you’re not feeling thirsty, it’s important to stay hydrated.
• Spend time in air-conditioned places. If your home doesn’t have AC, you can visit cooling centers, malls, movie theaters, or libraries.
• Don’t use fans in a closed room—it just moves around the hot air.
• Check in on elderly friends and family who might need extra help.
• Avoid strenuous activities like running, biking, or yard work when it’s really hot.
• Eat smaller, more frequent meals.
• If you need to be outside, stay in the shade and wear a wide-brimmed hat or use an umbrella.
• Choose lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothing to help stay cool.
• Use sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher if you’re out in the sun.
• If you have any medical conditions or take medication, ask your doctor if you need extra precautions.
Stay cool and take care!
