Paramount Unified School District has selected Dr. William Nelson as Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services.

Paramount, Ca., May 15, 2024 -- At the May 14 Board Meeting, the Paramount Unified School District Governing Board unanimously voted in favor of the appointment of Dr. William Nelson as the Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services. Dr. Nelson will oversee Early Childhood Education, Elementary and Secondary Education (including curriculum, instruction, and Adult School) as well as Special Education, and Research, Assessment and Student Information.  With a career spanning 27 years, Dr. Nelson has served as a classroom teacher, middle and high school administrator, Educational Services Director and most recently, Assistant Superintendent, Teaching and Learning.  Dr. Nelson has been described as a highly visible, equity focused leader who has extensive experience in teaching and learning.

Dr. Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of the Pacific, a master’s degree in Cross Cultural Education from National University and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Concordia University.

Superintendent Dr. Joshua Lightle is excited about Dr. Nelson joining Paramount sharing, “Dr. Nelson has a proven track record of strong educational leadership with deep experience in Educational Services.  His commitments to academic excellence for all students, his equity work, and experience at multiple levels will be such an asset to our District and community.”

Dr. Nelson will begin his role on July 1.  We look forward to welcoming him to the Paramount Unified School District.
