Eddie Cruz is a long-time resident of the city of Paramount. He attended Clearwater Intermediate School and is a Paramount High School graduate class of 1995.
 
After high school, Eddie attended CSULB were he completed his general education coursework. In the fall of 1997, he transferred to the University of Colorado at Boulder where he completed his undergraduate degree. Eddie received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in History (1999). The following year Eddie returned to CSULB and enrolled in the Single Subject Teaching Credential Program which he completed in the fall of 2003. Years later, Eddie returned to CSULB to complete the Master of Arts in Education Program and the Educational Administration Credential Certificate Program (2009).
 
Eddie walked into his first classroom in August of 2000. He served as a Spanish I and Religion teacher for Bishop Montgomery HS in Torrance, California. The following year he returned to Paramount High School where he taught 10th grade World Literature. In addition to teaching and serving in the PUSD community, Eddie has also worked with San Gabriel USD, Garden Grove USD, and for the last 16 years, Long Beach USD. Throughout his career, Eddie has served in the roles of classroom teacher, Activities Director, Assistant Principal, and High School Administrator. This fall will mark his 23rd year in education.
 
During his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as serving his church community. He is an active member of Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church and has served as catechist for the religious education programs of First Communion and Confirmation. In addition, he enjoys traveling to Mexico to visit his parents; hometown in Jalisco, Mexico to visit family. Eddie is a true historian who also enjoys traveling to new cities to explore other cultures and their traditions.
 
Eddie looks forward to working with his fellow Board members and district leaders in strengthening school safety, bringing high quality instruction to our students, and social emotional resources to our students and staff.
