Yesenia Cuarenta, Board Member

Yesenia was raised in the City of Paramount, and is a proud product of Paramount USD. She was a student at Wesley Gaines, Mark Keppel, PHS West Campus, and Paramount High School. After high school she attended Cerritos College and transferred to the University of Southern California. She had the honor of interning for Nevada Assemblywoman Lucy Flores. While in Nevada she advocated for immigrant families, and children. Yesenia also volunteered/interned for CARECEN and Community Lawyers Inc. 

 

She was elected to serve on the Paramount USD school board in 2018, and was re-elected again in 2022. As a school board member she advocated and wrote policy to support the creation of Paramount USD’s office of Equity, Diversity and Support Systems. She has also been an outspoken advocate for scholars, staff and families. 

 

Yesenia is a founding member of The Paramount Kiwanis and Muxeres en Movimiento . She is a member of the Paramount Historical Society, Paramount’s Parent Teacher Association, and The Paramount Women’s Club. 

 

Yesenia has had the honor of being elected to be a California School Board Association delegate for Region 24. As a delegate, she is responsible for collaborating with local school districts, county offices of education, and delegates to ensure that the association reflects the values and interests of school districts and county offices of education throughout the state.

 

She is looking forward to using her classroom experience to continue advocating on behalf of the scholars, staff and families of The Paramount Unified School District Community.
