COOPERATIVE VOCATION EDUCATION - CVE

Students interested in obtaining an extended Work Permit and earning elective credit for working, have three options depending on their occupational area.

CVE is divided into three areas: Food Service CVE, Office Occupations CVE, and Retail CVE.  It is essentially the LA County Regional Occupational Program equivalent of Work Experience.  If students work in any one of the above-mentioned areas, they can earn up to 10 semester elective credits with a maximum of 40 credits throughout their four years of high school.

Students must attend CVE classes a minimum of 2.5 hours per week.   Office CVE will be offered within the school day.  For information regarding CVE, please contact the ROP Counselor and or Clerk at Paramount High School at 602-6060.

EMERGENCY OR EARLY RELEASE TO PARENT/GUARDIAN

In regards to taking students out of school during class, Paramount Unified School District is dedicated to providing protected and uninterrupted instructional time to allow the students to focus on their subject matter, for that reason office staff are instructed not to interrupt class time until the last ten minutes of the class.   Parents are strongly encouraged to schedule all appointments after school.

However, in the case of an emergency a parent/guardian may request the early release of their student by reporting to the Attendance Office in person with valid Photo Identification.  The student will be located and issued an Off-Campus Pass to leave grounds with his/her parent/guardian once signing-out in the Attendance Office.

Parents requesting student release during class hours should send the student with a note requesting time and reason for student’s release and provide a valid contact number.  Failure to provide a note will result in parent and student waiting until the last 10 minutes of class period before student will be released.
