About Buena Vista

Buena Vista High School (BVHS) is an alternative education school which serves over 275 tenth through twelfth grade students. Enrollment at BVHS is voluntary and offers students an alternative, focused learning environment without many of the distractions common at a larger, traditional high school. BVHS students participate in the comprehensive high school's social activities, and attend district-sponsored academic programs such as summer school, Regional Occupational Program (ROP), and Adult Education courses to earn even more credits.

Buena Vista fosters a smaller learning environment with an emphasis on individualizing instruction based on student needs and character-building.  The school's motto, "Building Character, One Person at a Time" is reflected in the administration, staff, and student interactions.  Academic achievement, technology as a tool for learning, character building, and career exploration are all a part of the Buena Vista experience.  Our staff expects that students who are enrolled at BVHS are here to learn and actively pursue their education, with the end result being a high school diploma.
