California High School Proficiency Exam
Legislation now provides that those persons 16 years old and over may be exempted from compulsory school attendance if they have demonstrated satisfactory proficiency in an examination prescribed by the State Department of Education. A student who passes the examination will receive a “Certificate of Proficiency” and be allowed to terminate secondary schooling with parental consent.
These students will not be permitted to go through the Commencement Ceremony at Paramount High School.
