Message from the Principal

PrincipalThe name Buena Vista means “good view,” and that is truly what we at Buena Vista High School believe is our mission: to provide students with a new outlook on learning. When a student enrolls at Buena Vista, a chance for a new beginning is offered.

Buena Vista High School is an alternative high school for the students of Paramount Unified School District. We offer a program that is designed to reach out to students who are credit deficient and who would benefit from alternative placement. We do not have open enrollment; rather, students are referred through District channels or by their current high schools upon the determination that Buena Vista would be the best placement.

Every employee at Buena Vista High School has an important role in making the students successful. Not only do our teachers instruct students in the classrooms, they build positive relationships with them outside of the classroom. The administration understands the importance of listening to students’ needs and nurturing the academic, personal, and social growth of all individuals.

We hold high expectations for our staff and students. A secure and safe campus is not an option - it is a necessity. As such, we enforce school rules to maintain a positive learning environment. Attendance is key for academic success and to this end, we closely monitor attendance for each student and make contact with parents/guardians.

At Buena Vista High School it is our goal for students to leave with a “great view” of themselves and the opportunities they have in life.
